U13 Blue - DUSC Gold (1-0)

This weekend proved to be a busy one with 2 games scheduled on Saturday and Sunday. Interestingly, we played against our Gold team the second game. It was a weird experience and in some ways, it felt like a friendly game, in other words, a game against friends. But the beauty of it is that a game of soccer has to be played no matter what.

The progression of the game was at moments frustrating and we did not display our usual game. We were more concerned about scoring than building plays to score. The Gold team showed aggressiveness and demonstrated how a game should be played. Probably the last thing imaginable happened and the only goal of the game came from an own goal.

I think we can quickly forget this game and move to work on making improvements.

    I think that we came to that game thinking we can the game playing really poorly. Towards the second half we started to take this team seriously, and at the very we got lucky and they scored an own goal.

    We were extremely cocky at the beginning of the game and because of that, we did not play our usual game. I think it was good that we played like this however because that taught us that we should always play like we are facing the hardest team in the world. I know that I will never be as cocky as that again.

    I think in this game we were a little lucky to turn out winners. The Gold team played hard and kept us goalless for most of the game. In this game we all should have played a little harder and better.

    This seemed to me like a friendly game. We know the Gold team and how they play. But they missed many players and were about to forfeit. Their 11 players played for the entire game. We thought more about scoring instead of playing the right way. We won 1-0 thanks to an own goal, but we also tried to not let them score a goal. We should forget these mistakes, and try to fix them.

    That was a close game. I think that we did not do a good job passing, making runs, or controlling the ball. Everyone seemed to take at least four touches after receiving, then lost the ball. I do not think we should be worried about this game. It should not make us lose any confidence in our touch on the ball. It was just a bad day, that is all and we should be focused on winning the next one.
