HARRISON, NJ (December 6th, 2011) – The New York Red Bulls today publicly announced the try out dates for the second phase of the winter Regional Development Schools (RDS).
For the first phase of try-outs, held in November, over 1500 players tried out for this exclusive program. Huge demand resulted in many try-outs being fully booked and closed for registration, weeks in advance. As competition for places on the RDS continues to grow, players interested in registering for the second phase of the winter sessions are advised to register as soon as possible, to avoid getting locked out.
The popular program returns to many of the same indoor locations throughout the tri-state area, featuring many standard training locations, as well as offering increased options for players interested in the goalkeeper, and Futbolinho curriculums.
All winter RDS locations offer 6 weeks of advanced, technical training, focusing specifically on individual techniques, and functions of the game. Accessible via try out only, each course provides an intensive and challenging environment unlike any other. Players that excel within the RDS will be selected to represent the Red Bull New York in showcase tournament play, and earn the opportunity to train with the full academy teams.
Featuring a low coaching ratio, some of the most highly qualified staff in the area, and an unrivaled end of season evaluation, the program is firmly entrenched as the area's ultimate training tool. Applications are encouraged from boys and girls aged 8 to 14, who have a strong travel soccer background, and are looking for a unique training environment to supplement their club schedule.
Applications are especially welcome from boys born in 1999, looking to enhance their chances of selection for next year’s Academy team. For the second year running, over 90% of players making the transition to the youngest full Academy team were direct recruits from the RDS, with the 1998 graduating class proving to be equally as competitive as the ‘96 and ‘97 classes before them.
