U9 Winter Tournament Week 1
The Winter Tournament for the U9`s kicked off Saturday with 3 really exciting matches. The kids seemed very eager to be back at the club after their vacation and they showed it in the matches.
1st Match- Team Webber vs Team Isaiah
Team Isaiah didn't waste any time, quickly scoring 4 goals in the first half, including a great header by Isaiah, assisted by a beautiful lob pass from Jayden. Team Webber kept trying really hard to score but their efforts were denied by the post and the keeper. Luke was very motivated to go up and attack and had a few good chances. First half ends with Team Isaiah comfortably in the lead.
Second half was a different story, Team Webber came out determined to score some goals and that's exactly what they did. Aidhan went on to score 7 goals and with 2 minutes remaining, Team Webber was up 9-8. After that, Jayden took the ball and passed to John Anthony to tie the game. 9-9 with less then a minute remaining when Aidhan found the net! GOAL!
Final score Team Webber 10. Team Isaiah 9
2nd Match - Team William vs Team Tessa
The game started and quickly Team William took possession of the ball. Though the Team William moved the ball around and created chances, they couldn't find the net. Team Tessa scored their first 3 goals from counter attacks, setting the score at 0-3 in the first ten minutes. Mac was in the goal for Team Tessa and he wasn't going to allow any ball to go in his goal. After a few attempts, Santo finally found the back of the net, though Team William still had a huge mountain to climb. Minutes before half time, Jesus went off with a light injury to his ankle and Joshua stepped in to help out. But Jesus recovered quickly and from half field, his strike on the ball scored a screamer! In the end, Team Tessa was too much for their opponents. Ethan went on to score a Hat-Trick and Brandon, who showed up late to the game, demonstrated some great skills and scored 5 goals.
Final score Team William 6. Team Tessa 10
3rd Match - Team Nacho vs Team Joshua
Last match of the day started off a bit slow. Both teams were not willing to risk much during the first half: Not much action to report. Their coach must be a genius because whatever he told them during the break changed the game completely in the second half. There was suddenly a lot of movement and action from both teams and lots of goals! William had a few great saves in the goal, looking a lot like Muslera. Julian went on to score 6 goals throughout the match. The ending was very exciting. 3 goals were scored in two minutes! Diego scored a Hat-trick including the equalizer (11-11) from half field! Pietri scored a smart one from a free kick, not wasting any time while the defenders were confused about how to get ready. But with 10 seconds remaining, William took a shot from out the box, Sam hit it with his knee and celebrated when he saw the ball hit the back of the net! After getting lost, Edwin finally found the soccer field and with about two minutes to play, still managed to score a goal.
A great day for the U9`s and the fans that came out to watch them play. Looking forward to a great winter season...
