DUSC Mission

DUSC’s inclusive program has a simple idea:  teach a younger player the skills that he or she will need, play them in a supportive team structure, make sure the emphasis is on fun and you will grow strong, cohesive and competitive teams.

Core Goals

Promote and generate respect for the game through the fostering of a soccer-loving community – a club for fans of the “beautiful game” who value sportsmanship, integrity and playing the game the “right way”

Inclusion of all: provide as many opportunities for kids (and their parents!) from different backgrounds and with wide ranging abilities to achieve their soccer goals

Provide a fun and positive environment that promotes creativity and facilitate players fulfilling their full potential both during their time at the club and in their future playing careers

Technical Goals

Developmental approach – growth as a player over the long term

Emphasis on skills first, tactics second

Provide opportunities to excel at elite ability/advanced skill levels

Provide coaching and education to all players, coaches and parents regardless of level

Community Goals

Maximize opportunity for kids to play in local communities

Share expertise and enthusiasm and provide opportunities to underserved communities across NYC

To support this mission and to achieve these goals, DUSC provides many different soccer programs for boys and girls:

  • DUSC Recreational League introduces soccer to children beginning at an early age. With a balance of practice sessions and scrimmage matches, professional and volunteer coaches encourage players to work together and be the best that they can be.
  • DUSC Clinics and the Little Stars Academy offer players who want to work more intensively on their skills but are not ready to commit to the Travel Soccer experience.
  • DUSC Travel and Gotham Girls offers a comprehensive soccer program led by dedicated professional coaches.  Travel teams represent the club in regional leagues and national and international tournaments.  Travel team players have graduated to Developmental Academies of professional soccer clubs and have been awarded scholarships to play soccer at college.
  • City Soccer in the Community brings DUSC's philosophy to the inner city schools supported by funding as part of our partnership with Manchester City Football Club (“MCFC”) of the English Premier League.
  • DUSC Camps run during school breaks at Pier 40 and in the summer Randall’s Island, under the supervision of MCFC coaches.
