Goicochea played soccer for Ulster Community College, where he also earned his B.A. in the Liberal Arts. He has been a much respected coach for the Big Apple League and Future Stars Academy. He specializes in the training of younger children; his U9 Big Apple Soccer All Stars (which included a number of DUSC Dynamo players) won the 2007 Disney Cup International Youth Soccer Tournament.
