Central City Intiative Program Joins Forces with US Soccer Foundation and Urban Soccer Collaborative Programs
DUSC and sister club GGFC support a unique urban soccer outreach program known as CCI.
Central City Initiative places professional soccer coaches in at-risk schools where extreme budget cuts have forced physical education programs to be scaled back to almost non-existent levels.
CCI provides soccer programs in these schools. It offers children the opportunity to work with coaches trained at the highest level who encourage a spirited love of the game. This has proven to be infectious: teachers tell us that children now now organize their own soccer games at recess and after school, and practice at home to be "better" for the program.
The US Soccer Foundation and the Urban Soccer Collaborative are teaming up with clubs like DUSC and GGFC to support programs that bring professional soccer training to kids who would otherwise lack an opportunity to play.
We are very proud of the CCI program and would like to continue to build a foundation of support among the DUSC and GGFC families so as to keep the outreach program alive and well.
GGFC and DUSC believe in supporting all efforts to gain a more diverse population of competitive soccer players in the major metropolitan areas of New York City.
